Sam has been teaching music since 2008. During this time, Sam has worked with students of all ages and experiences, from very young beginners to college music majors looking to further their music career.
As a teacher, Sam finds it important to develop a strong musical and personal connection with each of his students and focuses on both the strengths and weaknesses of their musicianship. Practicing is key to any student's improvement, and with his students Sam helps develop an efficient and organized practice regimen so each student attain their own specialized goals. Sam teaches several styles of music including jazz, rock, finger-style, singer-songwriter, and blues.
Currently, Sam is the Director of Bands and a private guitar instructor at Mark Murphy's Music in South Orange, NJ. Previous teaching experiences include teaching at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, New York Guitar School Summer Camps, and University of Miami Young Musicians Camp.
Sam also teaches privately in the New York City area. If you live in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jersey City or Hoboken and are interested in taking lessons, please send Sam a message on his contact page and he would be happy to schedule a meeting. Sam is available for lessons at his studio, travel lessons (your home) and Skype lessons.
